Obituary for Alfred White

WHITE, Alfred – Passed away peacefully at the Woodstock Hospital on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the age of 93. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Betty White (nee Gardener) on March 13, 2006. Dear father of Deborah Jackson and friend Bruce Wharram and Karen Tinline (Dave). Grandfather of Sean Jackson (Michelle), Jeremy Jackson, Nicholas Lemon (Marsha) and Jordan Jackson (Kyle). Special Gpa to Jaylen, Tristan, Tressa and great grandpa to Brennan, Ari and Tessa. Survived by his brother Arthur White (Barbara), Sister-in-law Lillian Park (Frank). Also survived by nieces and nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Emily White, sisters Nora Major, Anne St. Clair, Laura Sapwell, Ellenor Longhurst, Doreen Houseworth, brothers Daniel White, and George White, sisters-in-law Audrey Giroldi and Roberta Henderson and son-in-law Cliff Langford.

Alfred was employed by the City of Woodstock for 13 years and the Public Utility Commission for 17 years. He was a longtime member of the Mercer Wilson Lodge 678, Royal Canadian Legion Br. 55 and the Oxford County Naval Veterans Association. Alfred served in WW II in the Merchant Navy and The Korean War with the Canadian Army. He was a past union president of CUPE 636, Oxford County Naval Veteran’s Association and the Korea Veteran’s Association Unit 2.

Cremation has taken place and a family graveside service will take place in the Anglican Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
