Obituary for Nancy Scriver

SCRIVER, Nancy - On October 4, 2021, Annie Scriver (known as Nancy), passed away at Stratford General Hospital in her 97th year.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Alvin, and will be dearly missed by him and fondly remembered by her children, Diane Houghton (Vern) and Kathy Davis (Bob). Nancy was the proud and loving grandmother of Jim Houghton (Kaitlyn), Jennifer Davis, Andrew Davis, and great-grandmother to Jack and Logan Houghton. Nancy was predeceased by her brother, James Slack.

Nancy was born in Grassmoor, Derbyshire, England in 1925. Her family moved to Canada in her younger years and chose Woodstock as their home. Nancy took much pride becoming a Canadian citizen. Nancy enjoyed a career at the Standard Tube in Woodstock and then focused on family when her daughters were born. Nancy was a life-long learner with many interests including politics and sports. With the advent of the Internet, Nancy quickly became adept at the use of her iPad and, when faced with an unknown, was often the first to say “I’ll Google it!”.

A private family service will be held and there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Salvation Army Woodstock would be appreciated and may be arranged through the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington St. North, Woodstock, ON (519-537-3611). Personal condolences may be placed online at www.smithleroy.com.
