Obituary for George Caskey
CASKEY, George - William George Caskey was born in Canada to an Irish family in 1944. He left us on April 22nd 2021.
A Union man dedicated to his Union and his company, Fisher Controls until it closed. Dad put his back into work at age 12 and never stopped until his body said stop. He was honest and hardworking, respected by those who knew him best. A Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather to a whole bunch of us. His son Steve married Michelle Haines and his daughter Tammy married Kevin Searls. Steve and Michelle had 3 babies Erin Tim and Sean and Tammy and Kevin had 2 babies Tyler and Sarah. They all grew up and are successful. Erin Married Jeremy Guindon and they have 3 babies Cole, Charlotte and Jack They are still young but watch out for them and all the others to come! Tyler is with Tessa Williams; Sarah is with Ryan Grosskurth all building a future together. His Dad William Smyrl Caskey and his Mom Sarah Moody McAfee came from Coleraine Derry in 1928 with his sisters Mary (deceased) and Bessie. Brother John (deceased) was on the boat too, but not yet hatched. In Canada John was born, and later Brother Dave (deceased), sisters Sarah (Sadie) and Pauline and finally Dad arrived to complete the family. Dad left us with a legacy of camping, DIY, loon calls and stories about fast cars and the characters of his youth.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial for Dad will happen at some point when COVID-19 isn't so prevalent. In honour of Dad’s memory, donations can be made to The Friends of Algonquin Park https://algonquinpark.on.ca/foap/donate/ .
