Obituary for Czeslaw Bieganski
BIEGANSKI, Czeslaw (July 1, 1925 – April 19, 2022) - Czeslaw peacefully passed from this world, surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren. Dear husband of Lucyna Bieganski for 55 years. Loving father of Peter Bieganski and Barbara (Krzysio) Skoneczny and doting grandfather of Veronica (Dominic) and Jacek Skoneczny and Magdalena and Ela Bieganski.
His life was a struggle from the beginning. Czeslaw was the youngest of 11 children and his mother passed away shortly after his birth. At the age of 14, he was taken to Germany and forced to work. He survived, through the grace of God and due to the fact, that he would trade his rationed cigarettes for bread. When the war ended in 1945, he worked as a guard for the American Army and then he had the option of returning to Poland or coming to Canada. Upon his arrival in Canada in 1950, he was sent to work on a farm to pay for the cost of his ticket. Shortly after, he decided to head to the city of Woodstock and worked for LaFrance Textiles, Harvey Woods and GNC Homes and finally retired from Holland Hitch.
Czesiek was one of the first people to own his own vehicle in Woodstock. He would chauffer people to work on farms outside of the city and was also known for teaching young Polish teenagers how to drive. He met the love of his life on Valentine’s Day in 1965. Czesiek and Lucyna were married on July 16, 1966. He was the best dad around. His kids were his pride and joy, and he would do anything for them. Who knew that he would love his grandkids even more! He was a major influence in the lives of Veronica and Jacek. Spending almost every day with them and walking them to the bus stop when they started school, and this continued long into their teenage years. Up until the very end, he was still cozying up with them while they slept on his lap or by his side.
Czeslaw was a kind, quiet soul. He was also strong in his love for the Lord and was the one who begged the Bishop to bring a Polish priest to Woodstock. He was also an integral part of the building of Holy Cross Church in Woodstock. He was a strong role model for many, and we should all take a page from his playbook and welcome people with open arms, a kind heart and a smile worth a million dollars.

The family will welcome visitors at the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington St. N, Woodstock on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A Rosary will be said at 6 pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Polish Catholic Church, 169 Ingersoll Rd. Woodstock on Saturday at 2 pm with Fr. Dariusz Jagodzinski and Fr. Raj Muthu as celebrants. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
