Obituary for Brian Simmons
SIMMONS, Brian “Bear”
Passed away peacefully at VON Sakura House on January 14, 2021 with his wife by his side. Beloved husband and best friend of Beverly “Bev” Simmons (nee Forsey) for 50 years
Loving father of Julie Major and her husband Wes Major and Matthew Simmons and his partner Nancy Xeng Ngo, John Halashewski (Katelyn) and Joseph Punch. Proud grandpa of Nick Major, Madeline Major (Jorden Wigand), Ethan Simmons and Aidan Simmons. Brother of Rev. Gordon Simmons, Pat Simmons (Kathy) and Michael Simmons and brother-in-law of Hub Thiel.
Brian will be fondly remembered by nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his parents Gordon and Georgina (nee Collins) Simmons, sister Mary Walker-Thiel and his sisters-in-law Beth Simmons, Heather Simmons. Brian was a dedicated and proud paramedic where he served Oxford County for 41 years. He and Bev opened their home and shared their love to many children that they fostered for 31 years.
The family will have a private family visitation at the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington St. N, Woodstock (519-537-3611). A private graveside service will be held in New Durham Cemetery.
In honor of Brian’s memory, donations can be made to VON Sakura House or Wounded Warriors of Canada and would be gratefully acknowledged.
