Obituary for Gary BATTRAM
BATTRAM, GARY JAMES - Gary Battram, 80, of Woodstock, Ontario, passed away at VON Sakura House on Monday, April 10, 2023 surrounded by family.
He was born to parents Bertha and Ken Battram on May 24, 1942. In Brantford, Ontario. Gary attended Waterford District Highschool and joined the Ontario Provincial Police in 1968. He served with the OPP for 5 years in Wawa, Ontario, before moving to Woodstock and joining the Woodstock Police Department. Gary retired from the Woodstock Police in 2001 after almost three decades of service.
Gary was married to Susan (nee Mayers) in Waterford in 1968. Gary is survived by wife Sue, children Wendy Battram and husband Jeff Koleszar and Rick and wife Amanda Battram as well as grandchildren Jayden Battram, Olivia Koleszar, Lucie Koleszar and Brady Battram and great grandchildren River and Jordan Battram as well as niece Lisa Battram.
Gary was predeceased by parents Bertha and Ken Battram and brother Brian.
Gary was outgoing and friendly and enjoyed the company of his family, close friends and a series of devoted dogs. He loved travel whether it was across the world or around Canada in a trailer. Gary loved to cook and was especially proud of his rum cake and his chocolate eclairs.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Epiphany, 560 Dundas St, Woodstock. The family will greet visitors prior to the service from 10:00-10:45 am. The family invites any donations in lieu of flowers in memory of Gary to VON Sakura House or the Church of the Epiphany.
