Obituary for June Voakes
VOAKES, June – Passed away peacefully at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Saturday, August 7, 2021, June Eleanor Voakes (nee Bradt) at the age of 95.
She was the wife of Peter Voakes who predeceased her in 1999. June was the second oldest child of her parents Samuel and Lenore (nee West) Bradt’s 11 children. Loving mother of Pat Lemon of Ingersoll, Beverley Schultz of Straffordville, late Ted Voakes (1984), Bill Voakes (Jane) of St. Thomas, and Barb Williams of Aylmer. She will be forever missed and loved by her 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her brothers Jerry Bradt (Nancy), Neil Bradt (Lida), sisters Betty Scratch, Rosemary Burwell (Bob), Cathy Vindasius (Algie), and Lenore “Norrie” Elliott (Wayne). Fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and extended family. Predeceased by her siblings Wayne Bradt (Jean), Jim Bradt (Eileen), Bob Bradt (Margaret) and Violet Taylor (Bud).
Family was always important to June and she always left you feeling loved. Her loving spirit will be missed by everyone she met.
A family graveside service will take place at the Aylmer Cemetery, Aylmer, ON at a later date. In honour of June’s love of children, donations in her memory can be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation and would be gratefully appreciated.
