Obituary for Klaas Baan

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Klaas Baan on Monday, August 1st at the age of 40. Beloved husband of Leah (Carpenter) and proud father of Kathryn, Jonathan and Nathan.

Dear oldest son of Jan and the late Magdalena Baan, and son-in-law of David and Arlene Carpenter. Cherished brother of Anneke (Dave) Vanden Berg, William (Jennifer) Baan, Corinne (Adrian) Duizer, Joanne (Arie) Bulk, Marlene (David) Looby. Brother-in-law to Brad (Rebecca) Carpenter. Klaas will be greatly missed by 16 nieces and nephews.

Klaas had a deep love for God, his family and friends. He was incredibly loyal and his unbelievable physical and emotional strength was a comfort to many. He was the first to offer any friend a helping hand or a corny joke. As a Dad he was always there to provide the next level of fun. He loved tinkering in the shop with Jonathan and Nathan, driving around the countryside with Kathryn, boating as a family, or adventuring in his new baby, the red Jeep. We never really knew where the day would take us if Klaas was in charge.

Klaas had a deep love for agriculture and rocks and he was able to build a thriving organic fertilizer business with his brother William and brother in law Arie. Klaas' favourite part of work was networking with so many wonderful people. He always came home with interesting stories from those he had met.

We will miss Klaas desperately but we take great comfort that he is in Heaven with his beloved Mom.
