Obituary for Maria Silva

SILVA, Maria José– Entered into her eternal journey on Monday, January 18, 2021 comforted by the love of her family, Maria José Silva (nee Raposo), of Woodstock in her 84th year.

Beloved wife of the late Joe Silva (Feb. 7, 2018). Loving mother of Emanuel Miller (Victoria) and Maria Velda (John). Proud grandma of Tony, Emanuel (Samantha) and Ember (Sam); Devon, and Brandon and great grandmother of Cristiano. Survived by her siblings Manuel (Olivia) Raposo, Tony (Maria) Raposo, Margarida “Fatima” (Jose) Vieira, Agostino (Eulalia) Raposo, and David (Maria) Raposo. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Manuel and Olivia Raposo, her brother Joe Raposo and her sister Alda Cabral.

Maria was a devoted loving mother, grandmother, godmother, aunt, cousin, sister and friend. Maria José will be missed by so many. Her love of God, life, family and her passion for those she loved so dearly will always be remembered. Thank you to everyone that made Maria feel at home, loved and safe these past few years.

There will be scheduled visitation at the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington St. North, Woodstock on Sunday, January 24, 2021 from 2 pm – 4:30 pm (please use the RSVP section on Maria’s page on the website. Masks are mandatory and everyone must stay in their vehicles until their scheduled time). Once provincial restrictions have been eased, a funeral mass will be held at the Holy Trinity Parish, Woodstock.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in Maria’s memory can be made the Alzheimer’s Society of Oxford, Woodingford Lodge - Recreation Program or the Woodstock Hospital Foundation or arrange a Mass to be said at Holy Trinity Parish in her memory.
