Obituary for Marion MARTIN

Marion Edith Martin (nee Hurley) went to be with her Savior on Thursday, March 28, 2024 just shy of her 81st birthday.

She is reunited with Douglas (2020), her husband of 57 years. Marion was a loving mother to their three children, John (Elizabeth) Martin, Anne (Perry) Forgie, and Shelley (Wendell) Bontrager. She was the doting grandmother to David, Ryan (Jessica), Kelly, and Amy Martin, Eden Foster-Martin, Alaina (Dan) Liska, Devon, and Sophie Foster, Matthew (Harper), Katelyn, Hannah, and Abigail Bontrager. Marion was a great-grandmother to Owen and Everly Bontrager and Madilyn Liska. Marion is survived by her sister Sandra Hurley, first cousin Tony Hurley, and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Marion’s quick wit and words of encouragement will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Marion and her family attended Berean Bible Church and Huron Park Baptist where she was involved in Young Peoples and led Pioneer Girls meetings. Marion completed her training as an X-ray Technician at Woodstock General Hospital in 1963. After their marriage, Marion and Douglas ran the family dairy farm in Oxford Centre until they retired from full-time farming in 1997. Marion also contributed to her community for many years as the fundraising coordinator for the Oxford branch of the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Her many hand-made items are cherished by her loved ones and it is her dedication to family that is her enduring legacy.

Guests will be received at the Smith-LeRoy Funeral Home in Woodstock on Friday, April 5, 2024 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted by Don Perkins in the Smith-LeRoy Chapel at 11:00am on Saturday, April 6, 2024. The internment will be held at the Oxford Centre - Pioneer Cemetery immediately following.
