Obituary for Ronald Thompson

THOMPSON, Ronald – Passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family at the Woodstock Hospital on Monday, September 28, 2020 at the age of 88.

His beloved wife Barbara Thompson (nee Gill) predeceased him on August 2, 1995. Loving father of Kathryn Thompson of Woodstock, Ronald Thompson (Jayne) of Lenox, Iowa and Joanne Long (Harvey) of Woodstock. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Terri Vording (Tim), Paul Long, Matthew Leduc, Drew Long (Trudy), Lorne Thompson, Melissa Thompson, Kacie DeWolf (Matt), Dayna Sweeney and Paige Sweeney (Chris); and great grandchildren Matthew, Everett, Monica, Isabella, Emily, Ember, Emerson, Quinn, Reese and Asher. Lovingly remembered by his dear friend and companion Laureen Sim. Survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews and extended family. Predeceased by his parents Alexander Reid, Charlotte Ermler, John Thompson and sister Dorothy (Dorie) Freeman.

Ronald was a retired Corporal with the OPP and served for many years in the communities of Crystal Beach, Niagara Falls, Temagami and Woodstock. He had also served in the Militia in Niagara Falls. He had a passion for cars and being a huge Elvis fan.

A memorial visitation will be held at the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington St. North, Woodstock (519-537-3611), on Thursday, October 1, 2020 from 4-7 pm.
